The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved the preliminary approval and locational clearance for the Granada-Vista Alegre relocation site II in Bacolod City to develop the area for the city city’s informal settlers.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of the SP Committee on Urban Planning and Development, recommended the clearance and said the move is much awaited since many residents of the city, whose houses were demolished need to be relocated in the area. Those who voted for the approval of the locational clearance were Councilors Homer Bais, Roberto Rojas, Em Ang, Mona Dia Jardin, Al Victor Espino and Carl Lopez, while those who abstained were Councilors Archie Baribar, Sonya Verdeflor, El Cid Familiaran and Catalino Alisbo. Distrito said that, based on the certification issued by the City Planning and Development Office, the property with an area of 586, 681 sq. meters, was zonified as residential zone based on City Ordinance 216, Series of 1998. He said the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board also issued Resolution 717 dated March 20, 2002 that the property is classified for future urban use and conforms with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan of the City of Bacolod. Meanwhile, the SP approved on second reading the proposed ordinance of Distrito to enforce a mandatory provision of the law providing hospitalization and accident life insurance for barangay workers, a press release from City Hall said.*CGS
