Four more candidates in Bacolod City submitted their statements of electoral contributions and expenditures before the Commission on Elections yesterday.
They are Bacolod Mayor and Congressman-elect Evelio Leonardia, re-elected Councilors El Cid Familiaran and Roberto Rojas, and outgoing Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. Leonardia and Rojas are candidates of the Nationalist People’s Coalition-Grupo Progreso, while Golez and Familiaran are independent candidates, the latter a member of the group called The Magnificent Seven. Comelec Rules and Regulations require all candidates for the May 13 elections to submit their SOCE on June 12, or 30 days after the elections.. The law also provides that candidates with political parties should spend only P3 for every registered voter, while candidates without political parties and without support from a political party are allowed to spend P5 only for every voter. Candidates found to have violated the law will be investigated by the Campaign Finance Unit. Acting Bacolod Election Salud Milagros Villanueva said that if a candidate is found to have spent beyond what is allowed by law, that will be ground for disqualification from holding public office.*CGS BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO THE VISAYAN DAILY STAR
