BACOLOD City officials called for increased police visibility operations in the vicinity of the Bacolod Government Center, also known as the Bacolod People’s House, after a rape incident took place at the Annex Building Friday night. The victim, a 20-year-old female who frequently jogs in the premises, was locked by the suspect inside the comfort room and molested her, police said. Councilor El Cid Familiaran said he will ask Senior Superintendent Pedrito Escarilla, city police officer-in-charge, through the Office of the Mayor to beef up the security at the Government Center and its premises. Advertisement He said that he will also propose a resolution addressed to the Public Order and Safety Office through the CMO to assign a permanent guard at the Annex Building. Lawyer Bong Dilag, spokesman of Mayor Monico Puentevella, said the mayor has called for a total review of the perimeter security at the People’s House to secure individuals coming to the area at all times. He urged people frequenting the area to be more vigilant. Dilag added that installing close-circuit television cameras in the premises could also be considered. By Merlinda A.
