The Liberal Party-Bacolod City Chapter will hold its founding general assembly at the Bacolod Murcia Milling Company in Bacolod City Saturday.
A Basic Orientation on Liberal Democracy will be held at the Golden Table Restaurant, Lacson Street, in the morning for recruits, a press release from Edwin Balajadia of the LP Advocacy Committee said. Acting party chair, lawyer Andres Hagad, said the assembly will be attended by all party members in the city and party stalwarts in the province, and will formalize the organizational formation of LP-Bacolod, elect its local officers, approve its major organizational policies, and initially set its political plans and directions. Hagad said he is proud to carry the party torch and initiate the organizing tasks in the city considering that the LP is the current party-in-power in the Philippines led by President Benigno Aquino III. He said the LP-Bacolod launching is in line with its national party-building and development program towards a truly citizens party working for good governance, people empowerment and sustainable development, the press release said. “LP-Bacolod will strive to represent the aspirations and interests of Bacoleños for positive reforms and changes in the city’s governance,” Hagad said. Local businessman Chandru Menghnani, LP-Bacolod acting vice chair, said the party recently boosted its political stock when it was joined by number one Bacolod councilor El Cid Familiaran, the press release added.*
