BACOLOD City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge Ricardo De la Paz
Ordered Monday Station 4 commander Leilani Garcia to establish the Community Police Assistance Center (Compac) within this week along La Salle Avenue, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City. De la Paz issued the order after the request made by University of St. La Salle (USLS) officials and stakeholders during a conference for peace and order at the USLS campus. The dialogue was attended by City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Dindo Ramos and El Cid Familiaran, BCPO-OIC De La Paz, Traffic Management Unit Chief Inspector Levi Pangue, Station 4 commander Garcia, Barangay Villamonte chairman Andre Victor Las Piñas, and kagawads Philip Montelibano and Friday Solinap, the La Sallain community led by USLS President and Chancellor Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC, and other stakeholders in the city. De la Paz said that he will assign additional police personnel at Station 4 to enhance police visibility in USLS to prevent crimes against persons and property and to address other peace and order concerns. At least three policemen will be assigned within the USLS area, De la Paz said. He added he will also request the captain of Barangay Villamonte to augment the police with barangay tanods to enhance police visibility within the vicinity of USLS. As one of the crime prevention initiatives of BCPO, the police will monitor the area for 24 hours. Last Sunday evening, nine additional police officers were assigned to Police Station 4. De la Paz stated that, aside from the 54 police officers from the Regional Training School who were assigned to several police stations in Bacolod to monitor drug-affected barangays, BCPO’s personnel was also augmented last Saturday by 50 police personnel from Police Regional Office 6. Meanwhile, Leonardia lauded the peace and order dialogue, saying that the results can also be applicable in some schools here in Bacolod to secure the safety of the students. Leonardia also envisioned to work with the private sector to secure peace and order in the city, especially in schools, to ensure the safety of the students.
