An ordinance establishing the Botika ng Bayan under the Socio-Economic Enterprise Unit, was passed by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod on first reading Wednesday.
The ordinance, authored by Councilor El Cid Familiaran and co-authored by Councilor Catalino Alisbo, said that the government is mandated by the constitution to protect and promote the right to health of the people and instill health consciousness among them… and adopt an integrated and comprehensive approach to health development. Based on this, the City Government of Bacolod should establish a health program to be known as the Botika ng Bayan, as the city’s socio economic enterprise, at the Bacolod City Health Office, where its operation, management and administration will also be held, it said. The ordinance also said that, through the Botika ng Bayan, effective and affordable medicines and other medical supplies would be available to senior citizens and Philhealth cardholders and their beneficiaries under the “Partner Pharmacy Scheme.”*CGS
