BACOLOD City – City Councilor El Cid Familiaran confirmed that he has resigned as chairman of the People Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) and that he is also considering running for vice mayor in the 2016 elections. Familiaran said he quit the PLEB chairmanship due to fatigue as he is also handling three important committees in the City Council – health; police, security and jail management; urban poor, housing and relocation. Familiaran, who is also a member of the Magnificent 7, a group of councilors who ran independently in the 2013 elections, said their group has parted ways. “It is inevitable because of personal preferences,” he said. Familiaran, who topped the City Council race despite being an independent, also said that he is open to running for vice mayor in the 2016 elections with the group of Bacolod City Rep. Evelio Leonardia who is being rumored to stage a comeback against Mayor Monico Puentevella. But the councilor said there is no invitation or offer yet from Leonardia to join the latter’s group or to run as vice mayor in next year’s polls. He Familiaran also revealed that he can opt to seek re-election for a second term. The Daily Guardian By: Dolly Yasa Category: For Negros
