AS THE country observes All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day on November 1 and 2, Bacolod City police chief Celestino Guara reminded people who will go to cemeteries to observe some restrictions.
Guara said that all Bacolod policemen have been instructed to enforce a “no liquor, no gambling and no deadly weapon” policy inside the public cemeteries. Moreover, there will be a traffic rerouting plan, which will be implemented during All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day. Levy Pange, Bacolod Traffic Authority acting head and Bacolod Traffic Management Unit chief, said that Burgos Lopue’s East up to corner Homesite will be considered “one-way-traffic”. Motorists from the east section of Bacolod passing Rolling Hills should turn right to corner Homesite towards their respective destination. Rerouting at Burgos Public cemetery will only be on November 1, 2010 and the routes going to Rolling Hills will observe a two-day traffic rerouting, according to Pange. There will be 120 traffic enforcers who will be dispatched in public cemeteries to maintain the orderly flow of traffic. They will be on duty from 6 a.m. until the cemeteries close. A Public Assistance Center will also be established in public cemeteries to cater to the queries of residents, particularly on traffic. Further, Pange requested motorists to park their vehicles not too close to the cemeteries to avoid traffic jams. Published in the Sun.Star Bacolod newspaper on October 30, 2010.
