A resolution requesting the Revenue Inspection and Miscellaneous Section of the City Treasurer’s Office to conduct spot inspections on all establishments in Bacolod City using weighing scales to implement City Ordinance 24, Series of 1987, is being proposed by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez.
C.O. 24 is an ordinance requiring all establishments in Bacolold that use weighing scales to secure from the Bacolod City government and display permanently together with their respective weighing scale in their establishments a sealed and certified one kilo test weight. The resolution said there is a need to certify that all weighing scales in the city are accurate and operating properly so as not to defraud the buying public. Meanwhile, a resolution requesting the City Treasurer’s Office to compute the rental dues of the three major public markets and Manokan Country, without the penalties and surcharges as of April 2011 for the purpose of determining the principal account of all the stall owners, is being proposed by Councilors Caesar Distrito and El Cid Familiaran. The resolution said there is a need to determine the actual financial condition and collection, including the determination of the principal account in order to come up with necessary policies regarding the public markets. Meanwhile, Distrito has also proposed a resolution requesting the City Engineer’s Office for the repair and rehabilitation of the North Public Market (Burgos Market) particularly the vegetable section and the roofing and flooring of the market. Distrito also proposed a resolution requesting Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo De la Paz to assign police officers at the Burgos Market to ensure the safety of the vendors and the residents of Bacolod who visit the market regularly. He also proposed another resolution requesting the market supervisors and the City Administrator’s Office to strictly enforce the cleanliness and maintenance of the Public Market of Bacolod City.*CGS
